Rick Copeland | PE, LEED AP BD+C, CxA

Rick Copeland is a principal and founding partner at Align Engineering and brings twenty years of engineering experience to the table. In his role at Align, Rick is responsible for overseeing all electrical engineering and commissioning operations.

Leveraging a background in construction management, Rick provides construction-conscious designs that anticipate future operations, management, and sustainability needs. His instinctual understanding of stakeholders’ needs and project goals have consistently led to comprehensive design strategies. Examples of Rick’s past projects span the United States and range from new building construction and historical renovations to high rises and government facilities.

Rick graduated from NC State University’s College of Engineering, earning his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering & Construction Management. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and is both LEED AP BD+C and CxA certified. Prior to co-founding Align Engineering, Rick worked with a Raleigh area engineering firm where he managed projects from conception to final occupancy as the project manager, commissioning agent, and electrical engineer.

Nathan Romblad | PE, LEED AP BD+C

Nathan Romblad is a principal and founding partner at Align Engineering where he brings eighteen years of engineering experience to the team. In his role at Align, Nathan is responsible for managing and directing all mechanical engineering. 

Capitalizing on a community-oriented approach, Nathan brings a collaborative lens to each project that results in designs that meet the needs of all partners and stakeholders. With a robust history in commercial construction, Nathan’s industry expertise yields innovative, efficient, and cost-conscious designs that anticipate developing industry norms. Examples of Nathan’s past projects range from multi-family buildings and high rises to restaurants and retail and can be found across the United States.

Nathan graduated from NC State University’s College of Engineering, earning his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and jumpstarted his engineering career by participating in the cooperative education program.  Nathan is a licensed Professional Engineer and is LEED AP BD+C certified. Prior to co-founding Align Engineering, Nathan worked with a Raleigh area engineering firm where he led projects from inception to final occupancy as a project manager and mechanical engineer.
